Hacker breaks into iPod Touch

A 13-year-old hacker has developed a way to break into the iPod Touch, it has been reported.

The young hacker, known only by his moniker AriX, developed a hack code dubbed iJailBreak which allows one to use third-party applications on the Apple device. Many owners of the iPod Touch were unsatisfied with Apple's recent release of the 1.1.1 software patch because it made defunct any third-party application installers that were already on the device. Josh Martin, an analyst with Yankee Group, told MacNewsWorld: "At the end of the day, once you hack the device you have to realize there is the potential for things going awry.

"It's not a phone, so there may be less concern about what is done to it. If Apple discovers there is a hack they may not go out of their way to eliminate, but I could see them trying to eliminate it also."
