Beckham souvenirs offered on internet auction

After soccer superstar and ex-England captain David Beckham visited New Zealand, a range of bizarre souvenirs has come up for bid on the internet.

A half-eaten corn cob is one of the items up for grabs, salvaged from a Nando's restaurant where the LA Galaxy player had dinner. The auction site is also offering a near-empty bottle of Coca-Cola reputedly drunk by the popular athlete. Beckham fans could also bid on a plate, knife and fork used by the player and a single French fry dropped by Golden Balls himself. So far the French fry has attracted a bid of three dollars.

The LA Galaxy midfielder was in New Zealand to play an exhibition match against a local team, Wellington Phoenix. Since joining his new LA-based team, the ex-Real Madrid and Manchester United player has yet to win any trophies, however he has re-emerged in the England squad. However, his presence was not enough to stop England from humiliatingly failing to qualify for the European Championships in 2008.
